You just know I'm going to have an opinion on this hehehe.and it is A 400 is the strongest yes but takes 30 real hp over a 200 thats 3 tenths.on a 231ci A 350 takes less hp to turn it and nobody with a 231 has ever broken 1 and lose about a 15 hp 1-1/2 tenths. Do you want to race to Niagara Falls and back. You have been hanging with too many chev guys. A200 will live well into the 9's. The only downside to a 200 is initial cost IMO but the car will be far more pleasant to drive. As you know no trailer Queens for me unless it's broke. :

The final decision was cost. I'm not getting rid of the 200r4, just putting it on the shelf for now. I know they rob a little more power and is why I have run th350s in the past but I cant beat the price. The 400 will be a fresh build with good parts and its only costing me 300 bucks including the core. Racing to the falls and back will be out for the bu, but thats what the impala is for

no kidding !!!
Be damned the power loss. My days of running tall gears and a 350 trans are near over ! Myself I would rather cruise the highway enjoying the OD at 2000 - 2500 rpms with the 200R4 trans than revving the shit out of my motor and watching the gas guage move.
So I will upgrade to the 200R4 now while I start my savings all over again for the F-Body 6 speed swap.

That was the plan with the malibu at first but I have the impala now for cruising the highway.

I never really go on the highway with my bu I stick to the 80 zones, there more of a fun drive imo. And revving 3k at 80 isn't to bad.

Found One !! 2 more sleeps till the three-oh-fried is out and one more before the new motor and trans go in... Too bad they don't make an emi-con for the peg-leg burnout ... so this will do until I get around to getting the posi in !
